Our inherited breast cancer focused lunch and learn session explored the answers to:

  • What is inherited breast cancer, and why is it important?
  • How can it affect treatment and future management options?
  • Screening – what and who?
  • How do we advise patients around whether they should or shouldn’t have testing?
  • What are the health and social implications to being tested?

The session was jointly led by Dr Richard Martin and Helen Bethell.

Dr Richard Martin

Dr Richard Martin is a Consultant Clinical Geneticist in Newcastle for 5 years with a main interest in inherited cancer genetics.

Helen Bethell

Helen Bethell is a registered Genetic Counsellor with over 20 years experience, and a qualified Teacher with over 5 years in the education sector.  More recently Helen has been working as regional NEY GMS Workforce Development and Education Lead.
