Meena is our NEY GMSA Research Director and Senior Clinical Lecturer and Consultant Clinical Geneticist in Sheffield.

Meena has a special interest in musculoskeletal genetics and genomic medicine, with two main research areas:

  • Genomic Medicine
  • Rare Bone Disease Research

In her role as NEY GMSA Research Director, Meena is facilitating genomics research in the region through collaboration with Genomics England, academic institutions, NHS and NIHR partners.  A key resource available, which Meena can signpost NHS researchers to, is the National Genomic Research Library (NGRL) where all the genomics data for NHS patients is being stored with their consent. As the NEY NHS GMSA Research Director, Meena is involved in key working groups including Intellectual Property, Genomic Consent and GMSA research proposals early feedback review and approvals for applications submitted nationally.

Meena sits on the Medical Advisory Board’ (MAB) for Brittle Bone Society and SATB2 patient support group.  She is also the I am the secretary for Clinical Genetics Society (CGS; the national body for Clinical Geneticists across England and the devolved nations) and a Scientific Advisory Committee member for The Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity.
