Lead Midwife for Genomics
Denise is our lead midwife for genomics and has been employed as part of the GMSA since August 2022. She has worked as the midwifery lead for the regional transformation project exploring equity of access to genomic tests in pregnancy and beyond.

Emma Groves
Pharmacy Lead – Genomic Medicine
Emma is the NHS North East & Yorkshire Genomic Medicine Service Alliance Pharmacy Lead. In 2016, she started the MSc course ‘Genomic Medicine’ at Newcastle University and ever since then has been fascinated by the subject. Emma has a keen interest in educational development and supporting the NHS workforce to use to adopt genomics into their current practice.

Gill was appointed as Nurse Director of the NE&Y GMSA in February 2022, and also as Lead Nurse for the NW GMSA.

Helen Bethell
Workforce and Education Lead
Helen is our Workforce and Education Lead and started her current role in December 2022. Prior to this Helen has worked as a Genetic Counsellor for the Northern Genetic Service, with over 20 years’ experience in the field. Helen has an educational specialism having worked as a science teacher in a secondary school.

Jackie Cook
Co-clinical Director, NEY GMSA
Jackie has been a consultant Clinical Geneticist at Sheffield since 1996, specialising in cancer, renal and endocrine genetics. She is currently one of the two Clinical Directors of the North East and Yorkshire Genomic Medicine Service Alliance.

NEY Clinical Genetics Executive Chair
Jennifer is the Head of the Yorkshire Regional Clinical Genetics Service, based at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, and has experience of developing new services and innovative approaches to service delivery, to meet the demands of an evolving Genomic Medicine Service.

John is our Data and Informatics Director and has been with us since the GLH was established in 2018. He and his team work to support and develop the IT and Bioinformatics systems and standards needed to help us deliver a fully integrated Genomic Medicine Service.

Lead Genetic Counsellor
Lindsay is a GCRB registered genetic counsellor and has been working in genetics since 1992. She is the Lead Genetic Counsellor for the NEY GMSA. She is based in the Newcastle genetics service where she is one of the Lead Genetic counsellors and Deputy Clinical Lead
