Meet Jack, Senior Genetic Technologist/LIMS Coordinator at The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. As a Senior Genetic Technologist, Jack works on service developments to help diagnose patients with cancer and rare diseases.  He also spends part of his time on secondment, where he is helping to implement our new Laboratory Information Management System.

 

Jack gets satisfaction out of problem solving.  Whilst at the genomics lab, he’s been able to refine a number of processes to improve the automation and efficiencies of the lab, whilst maintaining quality.

For Jack, the genomics lab is dynamic and never gets dull. His advice to people wanting a career in genetic technology is that the outcomes in terms of patient benefit are very tangible and there is huge scope to influence positive change at all levels.
