Utilising existing and emerging technologies is at the heart of the Genomic Medicine Service plan. It is one of the pillars of the National Genomics Strategy. The NEY Genomic Laboratory Hub (GLH) is always looking for opportunities to streamline processes and make operational efficiencies that will benefit patient care.
A Collaborative Strategy
Working collaboratively, with digital leaders across our three partner trusts (regionally) and nationally with the wider GLH network, the NEY GLH has reviewed and (re)published its Informatics Strategy for 2025-2029.
For the next 5 years, the NEY GLH will continue to focus on improving information management and the processes that support it through projects such as the regional GLIMS (Genomic Laboratory Information Management System) due to go live in Summer 2025. We will also move towards Cloud storage and the introduction of a Data Warehouse.
These projects will give clinicians and scientists access to the data they need to support patient care across the region regardless of geography. They will also improve access to the demographic and management information needed by operational managers to monitor and grow the service to meet the growing demand for genomic testing.
Aligning with the NHS England Informatics Strategy, the NEY GLH will continue to play a vital role in delivering better outcomes for patients in our region. Read more about our 5-year vision here, and click here for our Informatics Strategy.
